Moonlight vs. Sunlight

As the Summer solstice approaches, we are reaching the longest day of the year.  The cycles of the sun and moon affect all of us.  The sun's energy calls us to action.  Whether it's work or play, we are encouraged by the sun's energy and light.  I love this time of year and find myself wanting to be outside as much as possible, drinking in all the sunlight I can and lingering in the long hours of evening light.  While the sun calls us to "do", we run the risk of not taking time to reflect.  There are days that seem almost manic with activity, pausing only to eat and sleep.  While the sun calls us to action, the moon should cause us to reflect.  Moonlight carries no energy of its own but is a reflection, a mirror inviting us to look inward.  Take a cue from the moonlight and make time to reflect on your busy days, your busy life.  Reflection is a chance to take stock, become more self aware and both challenge and celebrate who we are far more than the sum of what we do.
