Are you a Giver or Taker?

“The vast majority of people develop a primary reciprocity style, how they approach most of the people most of the time.  And this primary style can play as much of a role in our success as hard work, talent, and luck.” -  Adam Grant

Adam Grant in his book, Give and Take, found that study after study reveals that Givers (people give more than they expect to receive) finish on top because Givers have stronger networks (people trust and are eager to help them).  They inspire highly collaborative teams (team’s success = individual’s success).  However, you will fall to the bottom of the success ladder if you never say ‘no’. Givers who never say ‘no’ are frequently taken advantage of and eventually burnout.
